The ‘Ponta do Garajau’ is a well-known tourist attraction located on top of a sea cliff overlooking breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean and main Funchal city harbor.

In Garajau you will also find a small beach and a protected Nature Reserve considered to be one of the world’s major tourist attractions for amateur divers and an area of great scientific, the only exclusive marine reserve in Portugal, famous worldwide.

Amongst the fauna to be observed here are some large-sized fish, such as the black grouper.

The reserve offers unique conditions as a protected area, not only because of its geographical location but also for its biological diversity and extraordinary crystal clear waters, which generate great scientific, recreational and tourist interest.
