Get off the beaten path at our unique rural offering. The Cozy Nest is loaded with Kootenay style and charm -- the perfect place for a single person or a couple to unwind. Private and clean, stay for at least 2 nights (3+ nights encouraged). The lake and mountain views are great and the livin' is easy at this well-equipped tiny-suite: a bedroom and ensuite powder room. The outdoor space includes a covered flagstone patio, a fireplace and a unique bathhouse where you can soak your cares away!

Our guests love the Lake-View Cozy Nest because it's so snug, quiet, private and well-appointed. Think "tiny-house living" and you'll have the right idea.

Your indoor space includes a bedroom with a double bed, a coffee/tea station, a fridge, small round table and stools, some basic cooking appliances, and an en-suite powder room (toilet and sink).

But it's the outdoor amenities that make this place so special...
... From mid-May to mid-October our unique Kootenay-style bath-house & shower is open. Have a relaxing, romantic outdoor bath or an invigorating outdoor shower. There's also a covered flagstone patio for your private use and a cute outdoor fireplace where you can enjoy an evening bonfire, plus lots of outdoor space to spread out, relax and enjoy the view.

The bathtub has hot and cold running water, it's an antique tub. The outdoor shower has cool water only as it is intended for summer use (to cool you off) but please note a hot shower can always be had in our shared bathroom indoors.

Inside the tiny-suite there is a pillow-top double bed (note: the bed is a DOUBLE, not a queen), a comfortable chair with a light for reading, a round table with two stools, a coffee/tea station, a toaster-oven and a small induction cook-top. There is a new fridge (2022). There's a counter with bar-stools at the window where you can sip your beverage of choice with a view of Slocan Lake and the Valhalla mountain range. There's a decent-sized sink and countertop on the outdoor patio, space to prep food.

We have good wi-fi service and there is cell reception.

The Lake-View Cozy Nest is part of our farm property in the rural community of Hills, BC. You can meet our chickens and enjoy farm-fresh eggs for your breakfast. You may see a mother deer with fawns, or a flock of wild turkeys, or even a bear wandering by... it's rural living at its finest.

There is no air conditioning but a portable fan is provided if necessary. The space stays cool throughout the summer because it is well-insulated and located in the lower level of our dwelling (the coolest place of all, lucky you!).

Hills is a charming rural community of acreages and farms, located just north of New Denver, BC. We overlook Slocan Lake, a clean, beautiful lake in the Slocan Valley region. Here you can enjoy world-class hiking, mountain and road biking, climbing, kayaking, canoeing, beaching and water-sports... just minutes from your door. In winter, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing are popular in this area. In spring/summer/fall you can enjoy our outdoor bathhouse and in winter, beautiful hot springs are just a short drive away. We truly live in paradise!

I'm a helpful host, I endeavour to make your stay at my well-appointed, clean and unique Kootenay-style accommodation enjoyable. I enjoy sharing our fantastic location and view. We enjoy a great farm lifestyle with a big garden and chickens.

I keep busy as the volunteer head of a local ecology foundation, as well as caring for our home, garden and my pampered chickens. I'm a community and environmental activist, I helped establish our local community foundation and I'm a director of two conservation and ecological restoration charities.

When you stay at the Lake-View Cozy Nest, my mission is to provide "country solace for city folks." Guests love our farm setting, the peace and quiet, and the lake and mountain view. In spring/summer/fall everyone enjoys the quirky outdoor bath-house and shower.

My style of hosting is to treat you as friends come to visit -- but you'll also have complete privacy when in your space. My nickname is "The Dutch Cleanser," you can rest assured you'll have a clean and well-appointed place to stay.

When not working or volunteering, I'm an amateur musician, I play clarinet. I also enjoy hiking, swimming, kayaking and other outdoor pursuits, and reading.

Your guest space is on a separate level (walk-out basement, ground level, lake view). The Cozy Nest is private; you won't hear or see us and we won't hear or see you. You have a private entrance and use the space without disturbing anyone.

The accommodation is totally self-contained and your stay can be zero contact if you wish. If we chat with you it will be outdoors, +6 feet away, and at your convenience. Rest assured that everything is cleaned and sanitized before and after every guest.
