More budget type family rooms are available at an old heritage bungalow in the premises that is being renovated now.

The heritage bungalow is echoing times gone by, this beautiful heritage home is a great base while discovering Jaffna. Squeaky wooden floors, high ceilings, big spaces, that's what you'll get in this majestic old place but in a basic and budget facility as it’s too old and being renovated. Built over 150 years ago in the colonial Dutch style, it has only family bedrooms, almost all of which have their own bathroom. There's a grand balcony overlooking the garden and there are old artifacts on display. Great atmosphere. Although we don’t market it for foriegn tourists because of its budget facility and renovations, we still sell it for local families and groups. Price for family rooms at heritage provided upon request. There are several rooms available.

Sarras Gatetrees itself is located smack in the middle of old Jaffna town, close to Town Hall (Kachcheri). There's a park nearby and the railway station and commercial centre are just a hop and a step away. Renting Motorbikes or tuktuk is convenient way to explore Jaffna and especially motorbike (Scooter) gives a lot more freedom to explore Jaffna on your own.

We've always had a soft spot for the Jaffna Peninsula, because of all the places to visit in Sri Lanka, it's by far the most 'Neverbeen'. Even though conflicts have subsided and this northernmost region is truly unique, not many people go here. But you really (!) should, so we went ahead and found some great places for you to stay. When you're there, make sure to check out Jaffna town, especially during the Nallur Festival of course, but you'll kick yourself if you don't take a dive in the holy spring near Keerimalai, see the fishermen at work in Point Pedro or go on the most adventurous boat ride of your life... to Delft Island. From 2014, Neverbeen offers a wide variety of rare homes off the beaten track, from fisherman's huts and tree houses to heritage homes and tea estates. Our team hand-picks and visits every home and meet all hosts to make ensure guests have a positively memorable stay in places they've never been.

We provide travellers and home owners in challenging locations with access to one another, by offering communication services, online marketing services and tourism training, so that locals can make a living off their home and travellers can get to stay in places they have never been.

As such, Neverbeen works for a world in which everyone has the chance to earn income by renting out their home, regardless of language, internet access and tourism experience.

In Sri Lanka, Javid works out Neverbeen growth plans and manages our growing group of homes in cooperation with our scouts, while Corina creates listings and Dishan provides service. Our team of in-house programmers is constantly developing the platform itself.

The first country we're active in is Sri Lanka, a beautiful country with many undiscovered places to stay. Having opened up to tourism after decades of conflict, it is a great place to start and pilot the Neverbeen concept. Having recognized for highest standards of service levels to guests and hosts alike, we plan to extend our Neverbeen portfolio and offerings from Homes to Experiences throughout Sri Lanka by the end of 2018.

Sarra's guests are taken of by Mrs. Koneshwaran, who worked for UNHCR for 17 years before she started managing this home. She speaks good English and cooks great local dishes, such as pineapple and crab curries. Meanwhile, her husband loves to repair and resell old cars and when we were there he was working on a beautiful old Ambassador. Apart from tasty food, they can arrange transport upon request.
