Hummanaya Blowhole is the only known Blowhole in Sri Lanka and it is considered to be the second largest blowhole in the world. “Hummanaya” refers to the noise, “hoo”, that can be heard a distance away when the Blowhole is active.

The Hummanaya Blow Hole is the 2nd biggest Blow Hole in the world and can reach up to 25 m (82 ft) to 30 m (98 ft) in height. The name of this Blow Hole derives from the booming “Hoo” sound that you can hear right before the jets of water. It is known to be the most impressive during the monsoon season (May to November). After paying the “foreigners price” of 250 LKR ($1.60 USD).

On days where the ocean is a little rougher we recommend you rent a scooter and explore! The blowhole it'self is fun and great boomerang footage but the walk to the blowhole is through a local area and you can meet the neighbors

6 km on East from the city is the bottom of a well – known place-a "blow hole" (Hummanaya Blowhole) To see this spectacle, you have to wait until the right wind and waves. Unfortunately, the spectacular sight you can see not always: the best time is the monsoon season (may to November), especially June. For access to the rock charged around 200 - 400 rupees.
