The Triumphal Arch of Rua Augusta symbolizes the strength of Lisbon reborn after the fury of land, fire and sea that consumed it in the earthquake of 1755. You can visit the top of this unique monument and have a truly unique and impressive 360º view of downtown Lisbon and the Tagus River. At the top, you can see the magnificent sculptures by Célestin Anatole Calmels, where Glory crowns Genius and Valor. The remaining statues, by Victor Bastos, represent figures from our history. To the left we find the Marquês de Pombal, the following are Vasco da Gama, Viriato and, further to the right, Nuno Álvares Pereira. Discover the history of this triumphal arch in the exhibition in the Sala do Relógio.
