Tucked into the woods and a short walk to the lake, the Hideaway has the feel of a cozy mountain cabin. The screened porch is perfect for morning coffee, a large screen TV, assorted games, dvd player, horseshoes and corn hole pitching outside. Red Canoe Lodge is located at the entrance to Walling Bend Park where you'll find a public boat ramp, nice picnic areas, swimming and bank fishing or you can just kick back and enjoy the wildlife and a quiet retreat by the lake.

The Hideaway is the largest of our three cabins, with a plush kingsize bed in the living/sleeping area and a full size futon in the second room. The kitchenette is equipped with microwave, induction cooktop burner and appropriate pans, small refrigerator, toaster, coffee maker and coffee. There's also an outdoor grilling area, picnic table and firepit. Our Welcome Packet provides plenty of local eatery options as well as other area attractions.
We recently installed a new FireWifi system in this cabin to provide a stronger wifi signal and so far, guests say it works very well. The TV is connected to an antenna that gets most of the local channels as well as a host of others. We've also provided a selection of games, a blu-ray DVD player and an assortment of movies.

We are uniquely located - 35 minutes from Waco (and Magnolia Market and the Silos), 15 minutes from the charming town of Clifton, which has some outstanding eateries, antique shops and museums, 20 minute from Whitney, another plethora of antique shops and 35 minutes to Glen Rose and Fossil Rim. Our lodge is located right at the entrance to Walling Bend Park with its public boat ramp and picnic areas. We have ample parking for boats and trailers here on site and we are planning to have kayak rentals by late summer or early fall.

Just so you know a little about us . . . Mike is a professional artist and has been providing humorous paintings for Leanin' Tree Publishing for over 40 years. You can check out his work on his site at www.mikescovel.com. He is also a sculptor specializing in public veterans memorials. You might notice a few of his pieces hanging in your cabin.
I am the administrator for a large non-profit in Granbury, Texas, that includes the battered women's shelter, CASA, Veteran's services and four ancillary programs including a food pantry and resale shop.
In our 44 years together, we've lived in nine states and have purchased and remodeled 17 homes. In 2017, we purchased the old Murt's Lodge, a popular fishing lodge from the 60's that had been closed down since 1998. It took two years of hard work, gutting and rebuilding, but we are finally ready to open as the Red Canoe Lodge.
We're looking forward to making new friends and providing quality accommodations for our guests.
