This is a lovely vaulted, mezzanine room (with a super-kingsize bed) that is accessed by a spiral staircase from the dining room at Ashleas, which is owned by your host Steve's mum Audrey. It's a beautiful 80s house with a fabulous garden on the bank of the Canal in Bathwick, in Bath, a short walk from the city centre. There is parking for several cars, a stream running through the garden, a fire pit, and various tables and seats outside. This room-with-a-view is perfect as a remote office!

The Treehouse Tower also has a library of hundreds of classic and unusual books. Guests will be able to 'hot desk' (Wifi password will be provided when they arrive) wherever they feel, in this relaxed and friendly, free-flowing open-plan space and its beautiful garden. The well-equipped kitchen (with peninsular breakfast bar for five) connects to the red dining room (seating up to 12) , which in turn connects to the spacious, double-height, vaulted living room. Double glass doors to the left of the real fire lead to the conservatory (designed by your host). Another set lead to the extensive patio and the beautiful quarter-acre garden. This unique retreat, with its fabulous views over the garden, the canal and the city of Bath 'opened' in September 2019 and has proved to be very popular. Please be aware, however, that the room is a vaulted mezzanine, reached by a spiral staircase. It has no door, so guests are subject to mild noise infiltration from below - like the sound of the TV in the evening. Just letting you know. Potential guests should be comfortable with the fact that if they need a super-early night, they just need to let Steve know, then he and Audrey will relocate to their alternative entertainment or work areas, so that your sleep will not be disturbed.

Also, wildlife fans will be pleased to know that you are likely to see squirrels, badgers, foxes and a huge variety of birds.

The Treehouse Tower at Ashleas is situated on a private road. There are four houses that were built in a Hungarian style (yes really) by Gabriel, who developed the site, in 1986 and 1987. Steve's parents bought the house in 1987, but only after he'd re-configured the interior to make it open-plan. Frankie the cat sadly passed away on June 7th 2021. He was twenty.

I've a creative polymath in my early 60s. I live in a fantastic house on the banks of the Kennet And Avon canal with a gorgeous garden in the beautiful city of Bath . My recording studio and office is the summerhouse, with French doors leading to a veranda which overlooks the water.
Apart from my work, I'm a wannabe interior designer, which the house is testament to. I'm also love cooking. I'm a night-person and don't do early mornings unless absolutely necessary. I've had an amazing life, having been a rock star, a pop star, a club promoter and celebrity party organiser and a freelance journalist. So there are plenty of stories to share over a glass or three of wine.

Steve lives at Ashleas with his sprightly 92 yer-old mum Audrey, who is a published novelist (see photo), the matriarch of a 'rainbow' family, mother of six, grandmother of 10 and great-grandmother of two. She also co-founded The Bath Postal Museum with her late husband Harold. Steve and Audrey are always around to offer help and advice.

If you fancy a home-cooked dinner (£12 a head for two courses, £8 for one), Steve's an excellent cook. Steve works at home, in his recording studio/office (he's a singer songwriter, artist and author) in the idyllic summer house, overlooking the canal, so he is usually available if there's any thing you need to know or locate.
