NATURE PARKS, BIKE AND WALKING TRAILS NEARBY There is plenty of nature parks, bike and walking trails, fishing places just in short bike or car ride: The Anne Kolb Nature Center at West Lake Park's 1,500+ acres of coastal mangrove wetlands -- one of the largest urban parks in Florida -- is rich in native vegetation and wildlife, including many threatened and endangered species. Situated on about 20 acres along the Intracoastal Waterway, Anne Kolb Nature Center includes an exhibit hall with simulated mangroves, a 3,500-gallon aquarium, and a hands-on EcoRoom; an outdoor amphitheater; a 68-foot observation tower; an Intracoastal fishing pier; and nature, biking, and boating trails. West Lake Park is occupying a three-mile strip of mangrove estuary and uplands immediately west of the Intracoastal Waterway within the cities of Hollywood and Dania Beach. Picnic shelters, playgrounds, fishing platform, boat dock, walking paths, tennis courts, basketball courts, racquetball courts, sand volleyball courts, canoe and kayak rentals. Dr. Von D. Topeekeegee Yugnee Park The Seminole Indian name of this 138.6-acre urban park, Topeekeegee Yugnee, means "meeting or gathering place," appropriate for a park known for its shady picnic areas. T.Y. Park is home to Castaway Island water park, 13 picnic shelters, an abundance of open picnic areas, and a large, open field suitable for a variety of family activities. Especially popular with our health-conscious patrons is the two-mile loop of paved pathways for walking, jogging, skating, and biking.
